Marc Rayner was born in Woolongong near Sydney, Australia in 1959. As a student he has attended several institutions in Australia including the Tasmanian School Of Art and NMIT, Victoria to name a couple.
In the summer of 2005 Rayner moved to Sweden. In the Stockholm area and lately in his studio in the countryside north of Uppsala, he found the inspiration for taking his painting to a new level.
As an artist he concernes himself largely with historical events and how they impact on current politics and social issues. Key paintings beeing "Magna Carta", "Dresden '45" and "In The Shadow Of Asia"
While Rayner does not align himself with a specific art movement, strong influences such as Basquiat and Picassos' later works may be observed.
